| Alpha Sigma Alpha Celebrates 108 Years of Sisterhood and Heritage! This year marks the 108th anniversary of the founding of Alpha Sigma Alpha women's sorority. Founder's Day - the celebration and remembrance of this occasion - is celebrated by each chapter, both collegiate and alumnae. Chicago West celebrated this joyous occasion with a special celebration at the home of one of our members. Marking this occasion Chapter President Karol motivated the membership by reminding that 'in 1901 women did not even have the right to vote, so it is especially significant that women came together in support of common values and ideas to form this sorority'. Alpha Sigma Alpha National President Cindy Kelley, in her Founders' Day message, challenges the women of Alpha Sigma Alpha to "honor those who have come before us [and] celebrate those individuals who have inspired us and strengthened our own experiences in Alpha Sigma Alpha" by reconnecting with a chapter sister, an advisor, or a sister. Especially at this time of year, but really every, day we are reminded of the purpose and mission of the sorority by the words of the Creed of Alpha Sigma Alpha: To fill my days with satisfying activity, To find dominant beauty in art, literature, nature and friendships, To know the peace and serenity of a divine faith, To love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good - This is my creed in Alpha Sigma Alpha. - Wilma Wilson Sharp |
