| SUMMER is going strong in Chicagoland! No doubt about it - its summer time in Chicago! The beautiful weather has us all outside staying busy, but if you need to cool off, crank up the AC and visit the national website at Alpha Sigma Alpha.! Have you gotten your Phoenix yet? The Phoenix is the national magazine that comes to us four times a year. The Phoenix has just gone under a face lift and is looking better than ever! Thanks to the Phoenix staff and contributing writes, as well as Louise Morales and all the Headquarters Staff Keep the summer beautiful and consider GOING GREEN - here are some tips for you and your family for a more green household: - R-E-C-Y-C-L-E - it sounds simple but are you doing all you can? Be sure to help the process by NOT dumping food or non-recyclable materials in your recycle bin. Be aware of what exactly your community will and will not accept. Be proactive - find out where your recycleables go and what they are being made into. Check your city or county website for information. - Turn off the lights! We say this all the time but are you doing your best? Turn off outside lights when you go to bed. Turn off lights in rooms you are not using - even if you plan to use that room later on. - Turn down the AC. Consider setting your thermostat to a warmer temperature while you are away from your home during the day. This uses less electricity AND keeps costs down! - Support your local farmers markets. Locally grown organic food is grown in a more green way, putting fewer harmful chemicals into the ground and atmosphere. - Spread the word - encourage those around you to be as green as you are! Help the GREEN revolution thrive! |
